  2. Nelson Mandela is a name that cannot be pronounced without mentioning the apartheid. At least, without thinking about it. Since the beginning of this fight, he has been the symbol of a generation who wanted and who needed a change in its own country. South Africa has been long enough oppressed by an antidemocratic regime. This government practiced the apartheid ,which means that there was a segregation of the black people, who had not the same rights as the white, because they were considered as inferior. The history had shown us many different practices, which ended by a total eradication of the opponents, by putting them into jail or even killing them. And of course one of the main figures of this opposition, Nelson Mandela, was imprisoned for life.“You can kill a man, but not an idea, not a revolution” Martin Luther KingThe Republic of South Africa plunges irremediably in a major political and social disorder, going until proclaiming the emergency state. When since 1985,the investors and foreign partners of the country multiply the economic sanctions, the South-African Republic sees only one exit: to abolish apartheid.De Klerk F.W., actual prsident, undertakes to remove the totality of measurements of apartheid. The ANC returns in legality while Nelson Mandela is released. It is him which will obtain the capacity with first multiracial electionsfrom 1994.After more than 40 years of existence, apartheid is definitively abolished. But the years of racial segregations that South Africa knew remain however deeply anchored in mentalities of each one. Thus, the country will start a phase of national and international reconciliation under the presidency, for the first time, of a representative of the black majority, Nelson Mandela. But afterthe racial inequalities, remains to fight the social inequalities.
